Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro, has expressed his strong opposition to the recent initiative by the U.S. House of Representatives, which seeks to pass the AR825 Law aimed at intensifying sanctions and the blockade against the country.

In his speech, Maduro described this proposal as a “garbage law” and a “law of infamy,” arguing that it attempts to dishonor the legacy of the Liberator Simon Bolivar by associating his name with a regulation he considers “dirty and criminal.”

During a meeting with his cabinet, the leader emphasized that this law was driven by interests outside the nation, noting that those who support this move in the U.S. Parliament must face the consequences of their actions. “This is an association for crime,” he warned, urging that those involved in the passage of this legislation be held accountable.

The Foreign Ministry also condemned the document, stating that it shamelessly uses the acronym of Bolívar, which they described as an “offense against the greatest genius in American history.” They emphasized that Bolívar dedicated his life to combating imperialism and colonialism, as well as opposing the anti-values present in this new criminal attack.

For this reason, President Maduro urged the National Assembly to expedite the approval of the Special Liberator Simón Bolívar Law, designed to counter the blockade and protect the country’s sovereignty

He called on the Venezuelan people to mobilize and support the fight against what he referred to as the “junk law” of the U.S. Congress. “Go out and fight; we will make them bite the dust of defeat,” he declared.

In response to these statements, the National Assembly unanimously approved the development of the Special Liberator Simón Bolívar Law, reaffirming its commitment to defending the homeland against external aggression.

This measure is intended to strengthen national resistance to sanctions and blockades imposed by the United States.
